Lumineers

Our team at Central Carolina Endodontics is committed to giving you the widest and latest range of treatment options available in preventative, restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Along with traditional veneers, we are proud to offer Lumineers-brand veneers to the patients of West Columbia and the surrounding Central Carolina area.

Lumineers are a sleek, noninvasive, discreet aesthetic solution that smooths, brightens and enhances your naturally beautiful smile.

What Are Lumineers?

Lumineers are a specific brand of veneers. While they serve the exact same purpose of a traditional porcelain veneer–covering minor damages like chips and cracks, brightening your smile and fixing imperfections like gaps–they are thinner and apply directly to natural teeth with no need to remove enamel.

Like porcelain veneers, Lumineers are an excellent solution for patients with:

  • Tooth blemishes
  • Gaps
  • Cracks
  • Chips
  • Discoloration from internal staining, or stains that can’t be removed by professional tooth whitening
  • Worn teeth
  • Dull teeth

Due to how thin they are, Lumineers blend even more seamlessly in with your mouth by closely mimicking the shine of your natural teeth. They also last longer than a traditional veneer–Lumineers can last up to 20 years, while veneers only last up to 10.

How are Lumineers Different from Traditional Veneers?

Lumineers provide greater flexibility than traditional veneers because they don’t require any alteration to your natural tooth.

When applying standard dental veneer to your front teeth, Dr. Joseph Bonavilla must remove a little bit of your tooth enamel for the bonding process with dental glue. While both painless and harmless, this may require local anesthetic. It also means your tooth is permanently altered–you’ll always need a veneer to cover the missing enamel.

Lumineers, on the other hand, do not require any form of alteration and leave your natural tooth totally intact. Should you one day choose to remove your Lumineers, you could.

What Happens During the Lumineers Process?

The preparation and application process for Lumineers is very similar to traditional veneers. To start, Dr. Joseph Bonavilla and the team will meet with you to discuss your smile makeover and what your aesthetic goals are.

From here, we will take images of your teeth that capture the correct size, shape and look you need to fit in with your mouth. These images are then sent to a dental lab for the creation of your Lumineers.

Once your Lumineers arrive at our office, we can immediately attach them to your teeth with dental glue instead of removing any enamel beforehand. This also eliminates the need for temporary veneers as well.

From here, your only responsibility is to show off your beautiful new smile to West Columbia!
